• i absolutely never use generative ai. in research or just day to day life. i even have an extention to remove ai search results. 100% authentic autism over here.
• while i occasionally use their users as a source, denizens of the r/namenerds subreddit and especially its siblings r/namenerdscirclejerk and r/tragedeigh will absolutely hate it this. i generally disagree with a lot of the prevailing philosophies over there.
• this is a roleplay resource blog first and foremost. what you use my stuff for outside of writing and playing fictional dolls is your own perogitive.
• sources are often incredibly dodgy. you know how already bad ai answers get worse and worse the more of its own slop it eats? baby name websites and the like are kind of like that. so while i do my best to fact check anything that sounds a little off and leave out anything that both sounds off and can't be corroborated, take everything i say with a grain of salt. this is why i leave sources. send an ask on tumblr if you find something egregious that i missed.
• your english teacher was wrong about wikipedia, it's generally reliable and has pretty stict sourcing requirements.
• the gender column takes tradition into account, but is somewhat vibes based for western european names. this is part why lean is a category.
